The most commonly used materials of screwdriver shaft

1)Cr-Mo

Cr-Mo steel is a kind of low alloy steel used in a number of applications and industries. As the name suggests, the two key alloying elements are molybdenum (Mo) and chromium (Cr).This steel has good impact resistancehardness toughness. It is generally used to produce high quality screwdriver shaft ,and this materials is more expensive.

2) Cr-V

Chromium vanadium steel is an alloy of chromium and vanadium. It has better strength and toughness than carbon steel. This material has good strength and toughness, and is an ideal material for making wrenches, screwdrivers, high leverage plier, etc.. It is not so expensive. so CRV is chosed to be the general-purpose material for general screwdrivers.

3) Carbon Steel

Carbon steel is an iron-carbon alloy with the mass fraction of carbon is less than 2.11%. and with high hardness and strength, but poor toughness. Carbon steel could be classified into 3 categories: low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel and high-carbon steel. This materials is not suitable for produing screwdriver shaft.

4) S2

S2 alloy steel is a shock-resisting tool steel type, used to make high-hardness Allen wrenches, screwdrivers, etc. with sufficiently high hardness, wearing resistance and toughness.
